- To do no harm and work toward the good of the client.
- Establish trust with the client.
- Act respectful and display an ethical professionalism.
- Respect my client’s dignity and personal rights.
- Show respect for everyone’s diverse personality.
- Show no prejudice to my client’s colour, race, religious or social belief, gender, or sexual preference.
- Have no prejudice toward a client with mental and/or physical disabilities.
- Be honest, truthful and accurate.
- Be aware of my own expertise, training, wellbeing and health.
- Maintain professional indemnity insurance.
- Keep client records safe and secure and keep for 7 years.
- Obtain written permission from the client or the client’s parent/s or legal guardian/s before either digitally or electronically recording client sessions or discussing undisguised cases with any person.
- Advise the client that anonymized cases may sometimes be used for the purposes of academic assessment.

For my clients:
- Stay within my training and competency levels.
- Respect the client’s privacy.
- Discuss a realistic outcome and the limitations of my services.
- Inform the client of the confidentiality I must provide when working with them.
- Respect that clients may choose to continue with my services or not.
- Produce evidence of current professional indemnity insurance when asked.
- Explain my fees and the terms of payment and explain how non-attendance or cancelled appointments will be handled.
- Explain and ask for permission before using any touch as a component of hypnotherapy. Once permission is granted, it will be documented in the client’s case notes.
- Refer a client to another practitioner or medical adviser who might be expected to offer suitable or more technical support/treatment.
